Welcome!

The Applied Neuroscience Society of Australasia is a professional membership organisation consisting of health professionals from Medicine, NeuroPsychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Chiropractic, Naturopathy, Physiotherapy and Behavioural Optometry who are committed to the promotion of optimum health primarily through self-regulation, diet and nutrition.

What is Applied Neuroscience?

Brainmap As the name implies, Applied  Neuroscience is the  application of Neuroscience research findings from  the fields of Neurophysiology, Neuropsychiatry,  Neurobiology, Psychophysiology, Molecular  Biochemistry and Nutrition to clinical practice. The  field of Applied Neuroscience bridges across these  disciplines to bring together the most useful and  promising research and treatment modalities to  promote optimum mental health through self  regulation.

From Neurophysiology Quantitative Electroencephalography (QEEG) provides a well researched technology that enables Applied Neuroscience practitioners to identify how the brain electrical activity of a patient may differ from those in a database of normal subjects. Such differences are often associated with mental health issues such as ADHD, Learning Disorders, Autism, Aspergers Syndrome, Epilepsy, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Primary Degenerative Dementia and others.

Neurotherapy

Neurofeedback.jpgNeurotherapy uses a computer assisted EEG (Electroencephalogram) which measures brainwave activity through sensors, placed on the surface of the scalp. The brainwave activity can then be displayed on a computer as a visual and audio representation in the form of a brain controlled game. Through this sophisticated neuro-feedback system, individuals are taught to effectively exercise their brain, leading to increased concentration, better impulse control and the ability to differentiate and control mental states associated with mood problems. Neurotherapy empowers the brain to develop increased control and mental strength, much like the effects of weight lifting to develop muscle strength or jogging to improve cardiovascular fitness. Sponsorship opportunities

The Applied Neuroscience Society of Australasia is a non-profit professional organisation and relies on financial support to help us reach our goals and objectives in promoting the advances of Neuroscience in clinical practice. Sponsors receive recognition for their contributions on this website, in printed material and on location at supported conferences and meetings.

We also offer the exhibition option – a chance for the sponsor to showcase their organisation during our conferences.

Please contact events@appliedneuroscience.org.au for information on available packages.
